You can also see a port of this by Dan Horrigan on GitHub:

Pretty useful as it uses static methods instead and a lot cleaner.

Very nice post. I’m loving using CodeIgniter mixed with Modular Extensions so far. I’ve been working on my own simple CMS as well. Thanks for the article!

absolutely, i will be doing an update at some stage. haven’t really worked on the plugin architecture much lately but i have already seen some good ways to improve it from looking around the web.

i will likely put the next blog post on threadler.com though.. we will see.

Thanks.. i have come up with exactly the same structure for a CMS i’m building thou i use a controller called install.php that contains methods for install / uninstall and containing module info.. makes it easier to use core CI methods if needed during install/unstall.
